You use Tinder. And you heard rumors it was possible to change your Tinder location, even with a free membership.

Method 1: Use the Tinder Passport feature

The easiest way to change your Tinder location is to become a paying member.

Go premium and buy Tinder Plus, Tinder Gold, or Tinder Platinum.

All these paid memberships give you a feature called Tinder Passport. And it lets you set your location anywhere in the world, as many times as you like.

Here’s how you change your Tinder location using Tinder Passport:

Open Tinder.
Hit the profile icon on the top left of the screen.
Press ‘Settings’.
For Android, tap ‘Swiping in’. For iOS, click ‘Location’.
Select ‘Add a new location’.

From there you can enter a location. And drop a pin to mark your new whereabouts.

Are you interested in Tinder Passport, but not sure if the paid Tinder membership is worth it?

Method 2: Use a VPN and spoofing app

To find out where you are, Tinder checks your device’s GPS as well as its IP address. If you want to change your Tinder location, this means you’ll have to use a GPS spoofer and a VPN app.

The VPN will connect you to an internet server located in another neighborhood, state, or even country. The spoofer will override your GPS location.

If both are in sync, Tinder will then update your Discovery stack to include users from that area.

Here’s how to change your location on Tinder without being a paying Tinder user:

Download and install a VPN and GPS spoofing app on your device. Both are needed.
Connect to a VPN server. Pick a place of your choosing.
Change your GPS location with the spoofer. Choose a location that’s close to the VPN server.
Log into Tinder. Voila! You’re now swiping Tinder users from a different part of the globe.

GPS spoofers are generally free (Android has a built-in one called, Surfshark). But VPN apps typically cost money.

I recommend buying a well-respected VPN, it’ll usually only cost you a few dollars a month and you can use it across several devices.

Other methods to change your location on Tinder

Change your location on Facebook. If you created your Tinder account with Facebook, Tinder will find your geophysical location through your Facebook settings. If you turn these settings off, Tinder will only use your IP address to verify your location. This means you no longer need a GPS spoofer, just a VPN. Go to your Facebook page, click on Settings, Location, and then Never.
Use a proxy server. This approach works just like a VPN. The only difference is that a proxy doesn’t encrypt your traffic or offer you any privacy and security perks.
Manually create a new IP address. By changing your IP address in your phone’s Wi-Fi settings, you can get another address within your home network. The only downside is that your home network will be connected to your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Will using a VPN get you banned from Tinder?

Tinder’s Terms of Service says nothing about VPN usage. But it might lead to some complications with your Tinder account if used haphazardously.

The benefits of changing your Tinder location

1. You get a small boost in attention

Once you change your location, Tinder briefly places your profile higher in the Tinder stack.

Why?

The dating app’s robots want to guarantee you’re having a good time even outside your usual hangouts.

Do note that this artificial boost is only minor. It’s not like the Tinder Boost feature, where you fly to the top of every person’s Discovery stack in the area for 30 minutes.

But it does increase your matches of meeting new people for about a day. Once the 24 hours are over, your profile will drop down the swipe stack to where it usually is.

2. You can plan dates ahead of time

There’s no point in matching women across the globe if you don’t plan on meeting up with them. But suppose you’re going on a trip to another country next week.

Then it pays to already have a few dates lined up before you even set foot there.

3. You overcome restrictions

It’s not possible to use Tinder everywhere in the world. If you live in a country that has no access to Tinder, a VPN can easily bypass these restrictions for you.

Understanding how Tinder location works (it can be a bit slow)

To know where you are, Tinder tracks your phone and your IP address.

Tinder’s robots work similarly to parents of a young child. Every few minutes, the machines peek around the corner to see what you’re up to.

“Good. He’s still eating Doritos in the basement.”

The checking of your location, doesn’t only depend on Tinder, but also your phone and usage.

Roughly speaking, Tinder measures your position at two different speeds. If you have the app open, the checking is almost constant.

Is the app closed? Then the robots check your position anywhere between every 5 to 20 minutes. Which is largely dependent on your phone, battery life, and other apps you’re running.

So there is no EXACT way to know how often Tinder calculates your location.

Suppose you just flew from Chicago to Amsterdam and are on your way to passport control. You see a huge line and decide to pass the time by swiping.

Because it’s the first time you’ve opened up Tinder since leaving Chicago, you’ll still see a stack filled with Chicagoans. And if your battery life is low and wifi connection poor, it may take half an hour before Tinder realizes you’re in Amsterdam.

Now let’s imagine you ignored flight safety and fired up Tinder as you entered the borders of the Netherlands. If your phone is fully charged, no other apps are open, and your battery settings are set on performance… you’ll be swiping Dutch locals in minutes.

The conclusion?

Tinder’s robots are lazy unless you give them lots of power and attention. So it may take a while before Tinder knows your location.

Is Tinder Passport worth it?

Tinder Passport is worth it, as long as you travel frequently.

You’ll like Tinder Passport if you fall into one of these categories:

You work far from home. Changing your location lets you swipe ladies close to your neighborhood.
You often go abroad. That way you can arrange dates in your holiday destination before you physically arrive.
You’re curious and adventurous. Perhaps you’re willing to travel if the international women are fun and attractive enough.

Let’s give you an example to make the benefits of Tinder Passport concrete.

Suppose you’re about to stay in Bangkok, Thailand for a few days. And your flight is two weeks away.

Without changing your Tinder location, your only option to date is to land in Bangkok and:

Fire up Tinder.
Aggressively swipe.
Send all your matches an irresistible opener. Download the Clickbait opener to get the most effective icebreaker of all time.
Make her crazy about meeting you. Use my 10 Texts That Always Work.
And lastly, set up the date.

If you’re lucky, you’ll get one or two dates before you leave.

But with Tinder Passport, you can complete all the above steps from the comfort of your home. This way you can prepare a date for every day you’re in Thailand (or whatever country you’re staying in).

How to make changing your Tinder location a success

A match doesn’t guarantee a date. First, you have to make her excited to go out with you. And before that, you want to capture her attention with an irresistible icebreaker.

If she’s like most women, she’ll have more matches than she can shake a stick at. And an inbox filled with men screaming for her attention.

To have a chance of dating her, your opener MUST cut through the noise. Luckily for you, it’s not all that hard.

So let me give you a chance to shine, with the MOST effective opener of them all. Which is also childishly simple to execute.

The Clickbait Opener.

And you can download it for free below! Plus, you can get my most powerful texting technique of all, the Personality Slice, while you’re at it.

Enjoy, amigo.

Blessings,
Louis Farfields
